General Guidelines for Building Use

The Woods Hole Community Association welcomes a wide variety of groups to use its buildings for meetings, events, and other activities that enhance the cultural and educational life of the village and the surrounding communities.

The Woods Hole Community Hall (68 Water Street) has a capacity of 160 on the main floor and is appropriate for dances, concerts, theatrical productions, and large exercise classes. The basement has a capacity of 80 and may be used during intermission from main floor events or independently for classes. The Hall is wheelchair accessible for the audience. An elevator serves the main floor, street-level, and basement where the bathrooms are located. Food and drink may be served and consumed in the basement, not on the main floor of the hall.

The Old Fire Station (72 Water Street) has a capacity of 70 on the upper level and is appropriate for meetings, exercise classes, and film screenings. The lower level has a capacity of 75 and may be used for classes or meetings that can take place on a concrete floor.

The Woods Hole School (24 School Street) is home to the Woods Hole Daycare Cooperative and The Woods Hole Village Preschool during the school year, and the Children’s School of Science during the summer. It is not available for additional activities due to existing use.

The Sugar Shack (behind Redfield Laboratory) is primarily a working shop space to support the ongoing maintenance of all the buildings. It is available for limited-term projects that could take place in an unfinished and unheated shop. It is not appropriate for public gatherings.
